Low Emission Assistance Plan for Landlords and Tenants

Information for landlords and renters

Landlords and tenants (with landlord permission) are eligible for a rebate of up to $1,000 to install ceiling insulation in their rental properties under the Low Emissions Assistance Plan for Renters.

Landlords may also be eligible for either the free ceiling insulation or the rebate for solar hot water.

Early installation guidelines and application forms are now available CLICK HERE or by calling 1800 808 571. Assistance is available for eligible landlords and tenants who have installed insulation on or after 3 February 2009.

How will the program work?
Eligible landlords and renters who organise installation between 3 February and 30 June 2009 can now seek assistance up to $1,000. Read the early installation guidelines to check if you are eligible and to find out how to apply.

After 1 July 2009 all you will need to do is ring the free hotline 1800 808 571 and make a booking. The call centre will take your details and confirm your eligibility. A properly-trained installer will visit your house, assess your insulation needs, and install it for you.

PLEASE NOTE: To qualify for the assistance, the insulation must be installed by an installer who owns or is employed by a registered business operating in the installation of thermal insulation.

When does it start?
While the program commences on 1 July 2009, eligible households that install ceiling insulation on or after 3 February 2009, can now seek assistance up to $1,000. So, if you have insulation installed between 3 February and 30 June 2009, please read the early installation guidelines to check if you are eligible and find out how to apply.
